Knit 1 Frog 1

I'm still trying to knit and crochet my way through all my wool stash which is going to take a long time.  The only thing which is keeping me going is that once it's all cleared,I've promised to buy myself the most cushiest, cuddliest wool for the project of my dreams. Back to the present, or near enough, I've just finished a small cushion using a pattern from JPFun.  I'm a member of this site and there are some great patterns for using up all those small amounts of wool.  Most of the patterns are for Worsted Weight but you can always adapt.  I've used the rectangular granny square and double crocheted the backing.  I stuffed the cushion with pot-pourri and added a chain loop to hang up the cushion.  I've posted a photo (sorry about the quality) and I hope you like it.

Here is the pattern for the rectangle ...

Two Needle Socks

I'm still learning to handle four double pointed needles but I really wanted to knit some socks.  Whilst searching, I found this brilliant pattern and knitted it using DK Wool.  The socks are really thick, fluffy and soft but you do have to sew them up with a flat seam.  This pattern can also be easily adapted to the size of your own feet.  If you've never knitted socks before, try this pattern. The pattern can be found on http://www.redlipstick.net/knit/ndlesock.html

Happy New Year!

I've made the usual resolutions for this year but I'm definately going to knit a pair of socks this year.  I listen to a number of knitting podcasts and everyone seems to be knitting socks.  I have made several attempts at (mis)handling Double Pointed Needles which have usually ended up on the floor with a tangled and knotted scrap of wool beside them.  However, I've found this website which might just solve the problem as it shows videos of the stages in starting to knit using DPNs.  The site also includes videos of a variety of knitting techniques which is well worth a look.

Happy knitting

Cross-Stitch Complete and Rat Tans Designs

I have finally finished the Sunflower cross-stitch design which I intended to finish a month ago!  I've uploaded a photo of the finished stitching, ready for it to be inserted into a coaster. I'm now able to progress onto my Christmas stitching. My favourite animals are of the small, furry kind but finding designs of small animals is extremely difficult.  Whilst 'window shopping' on ebay I found the cutest small designs and I'm now a fan of RatTans designs.  The designs are of chinchillas, guinea pigs, gerbils, rabbits and rats, I especially love the Christmas Designs. You can find them on e-bay but as soon as I find a link to the website, I'll copy it to this site.

Knits for Children and their Teddies

I hired this book from our local library but liked the book so much that I decided to buy it!  The teddy bear clothes patterns are ideal for anyone who has never knitted a jumper before and would like to try a smaller version before embarking on a child (up to 4 years old) sized jumper.  There are also Fair Isle, motif, aran and intarsia designs for more advanced knitters. The teddy jumpers are also great for using up leftover wool.

Dr Who Close Up

I've just added some photos from my recent visit to the Dr Who Close Up Exhibition which is currently part of the Spaceport Museum at Seacombe on the Wirral.  I certainly enjoyed being face to plunger to a Dalek .  The admission price is £8.50 for an adult and £6.00 for a child.  Contact www.spaceport.org.uk for further details.  Information regarding the exhibitions can be found at www.doctorwhoexhibitions.com.
